If you will be under 18 years old when you submit your Student visa application, you will be asked to complete an additional task in Application Tracker before we can issue your Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS). You and your parent(s) or legal guardian(s) must read the guidance together and provide the two required documents.
Parental Consent Letter
You must upload a signed letter from your parent(s) or legal guardian(s) confirming that their consent is given to:
- your visa application
- your living and care arrangements in the UK
- your travel to the UK
The letter must also confirm their contact details.
If only one parent or legal guardian has sole custody or legal responsibility for you, that parent or legal guardian must confirm this in the letter and sign it. Otherwise, both parents or legal guardians must sign the letter to show their consent.
You can download the consent letter template from Application Tracker.
Proof of Relationship
You must also upload a document that proves your relationship to your parent(s) or legal guardian(s). You can provide one of the following:
- your birth certificate
- an adoption certificate
- a court or government-issued document naming your legal guardian(s)
Before we can issue your CAS, you must upload both the signed consent letter and your proof of relationship to Application Tracker.
The Student Immigration Service will check these documents to make sure they meet UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requirements.
Once you have received your CAS, you must also include these documents when you submit your Student visa application.
