As part of the University’s ongoing commitment to research ethics and integrity, our Research Integrity training materials for staff and Doctoral students are being updated.
This change ensures that our training resources are aligned to the refreshed Concordat to Support Research Integrity (published in April 2025) and reflect up-to-date information on best practice.
From Friday 18th July 2025, the existing courses hosted on Moodle will be closed. If you have part-completed the Moodle course, please ensure you complete all modules by Friday 18th July at the latest.
A new training course will be available from Friday 1st August 2025. This webpage will be updated with access instructions in due course. The new course has been developed by the UK Research Integrity Office (UKRIO) and is called ‘Introduction to Research Integrity’.
New course structure
The course consists of four modules, each followed by short assessment questions. The four modules cover:
- The foundations and principles of research integrity.
- The UK’s research integrity guidelines, principles and governance frameworks.
- Research integrity in practice.
- Fostering a culture of research integrity.
The course is designed to be practical, engaging, and relevant to the challenges researchers face every day. It contains practical examples, video and audio clips, and in-depth guidance.
Learners must achieve 80% or higher on each assessment to progress, and there are unlimited attempts to pass. To complete the course, learners must score at least 80% across all four modules.
A personalised certificate will be automatically issued upon completion, provided the learner has achieved a mark of 80% or higher.
Completion of research integrity training will continue to be mandatory for staff and Doctoral students.
Updates about the launch of the course will be shared on this page and via the Ethics@Bath Portal.
